ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS |

Atleast first class Bachelor's degree
in Engineering or Technology in Electronics &
Communication Engg / Mechanical Engg / Computer Science & Engg/
Chemical Engg/ Electrical Engg./ Instrumentation Engg/ Metallurgical
Engg. or first class Master’s Degree in Science
in Chemistry/Physics from a recognized University in
respective/relevant discipline. |

The upper age
limit is 28 years (as on 31st May 2008). It is
relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/HH/OH candidates in respect of vacancies
reserved for them as per rules in vogue. Age is also relaxable
for Armed Forces Personnel as per rules in vogue. |

2. SET -
2008 |
| |
After
ensuring that the above eligibility conditions are satisfied,
candidates are required to apply in the Electronically Scannable
Application Form specified for DRDO SET - 2008. These
application forms with the information brochure containing the
syllabus and instructions for filling the application will be
available at the designated Branches of State Bank of India
(for details visit http://rac.drdo.in )
from 5th May 2008
to 31st May 2008 to General/OBC candidates on
payment of Rs. 300/- (Rs. 100/-for the application form with
information brochure and Rs. 200/- as Exam. fees). For SC/ST
candidates there is no Exam fees and the application form with
information brochure will be available to such candidates on payment
of Rs 100/- only. Forms purchased from the designated Branches
of State Bank of India should be filled in accordance with the
instructions given in information brochure. However, for HH/OH
candidates, there is no Application / Examination fee. Such
candidates may obtain application form free of cost from
RAC by sending a copy of “Prescribed Disability
Certificate” issued by competent authority as per G.I.,Dept.
of Per. & Trg.,O.M. No 36035/3/2004-Estt (Res), dated 29 Dec
2005. The filled in application forms should be sent/submitted
to The Director, Recruitment & Assessment
Centre, Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi – 110054 latest by
31st May 2008. The application form should be
filled carefully, without over writing, as these will be machine
processed and no manual checking will be done. Onus of
satisfying the eligibility requirements for appearing in the chosen
subject lies with the candidate. In respect of applications
sent by Post by candidates from Andaman & Nicobar
Islands, Lakshadweep, NE Hill Region, Jammu & Kashmir, Lahul
& Spiti Districts & Pangi Sub-division of Chamba District of
Himachal Pradesh and abroad, closing date of receipt of applications
is 10th June 2008. Candidates
appearing in the final examination (final semester) may also
apply. However, candidates found eligible for interview, will be
allowed to appear for the same if their final results is declared
before 31st Aug 2008. |

Candidates
will be required to appear for the DRDO SET of three hours
duration. Each candidate appearing for the Test will be given one
Question Booklet containing objective type questions. Each booklet
will have two sections. Section ‘A’ will consist of
100 questions to test the candidate’s knowledge in the
subject as per syllabus. Each question will have 4 choices one of
which will be correct. Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks.
For each incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted. Section
‘B’ will consist of 50 questions to test the candidate’s
aptitude relevant to Applied Research & Development. The
standard of Section ‘B’ will be such as may be expected of
Engineering Graduates/Science Post Graduates. Each question will
have 4 choices one of which will be correct. Each correct answer
will fetch 2 marks. For each incorrect answer
1/2 mark will be deducted. The merit list will
be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in Section
A and Section B and this list will be used for shortlisting the
candidates for interview purely on merit basis subject to minimum
qualifying criteria as decided by RAC. |

CERTIFICATES |

Copies of
certificates/testimonials regarding qualifications, cast, employment
etc. should NOT be attached with the application form.
Candidates, shortlisted for interview after the test will,
however, be required to produce original certificates for
verification at the time of interview. Candidates
serving in Central/State / Govt./PSU/Autonomous body etc. will be
required to bring ‘NOC' from their respective
Department / Employer at the time of interview failing which
candidates will not be allowed to appear for the
interview. |

The final
selection of the candidates will be based purely on their
performance in the interview based on subject knowledge and/or job
oriented aptitude. In accordance with the subject wise merit, the
offer of appointment to the selected candidates will be restricted
to the number of vacancies. The appointment, however, will be
subject to satisfying conditions like qualifying the Medical
examination prescribed for Group ‘A’ Technical posts of Govt. of
India with Field Service Liability and character verification
besides verification of SC/ST/OBC/HH/OH certificate, if applicable.
All Scientists ‘B’ to be inducted through DRDO SET -
2008 will initially undergo for Post Induction
Training (POINT) at Pune. Selected candidates
have the liability to serve anywhere in India. |

APPLICATION
FORMS |

Candidates
are advised to obtain the application forms from designated branches
of State Bank of India only. However, in
case of any difficulty in obtaining the application form, the
request may be sent to Director, Recruitment and Assessment
Centre (RAC), Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi-110054 by enclosing
a crossed demand draft for Rs. 350/- (Rs.300/- for application form
+ Rs.50/- for handling charges) for General/OBC and Rs. 150/-
(Rs.100/- for application form + Rs. 50/- for handling charges) for
SC/ST candidates, in favour of “Director RAC”, payable at
Delhi. The candidate must write his/her name, address, contact
(Tel/Mobile) number and e-mail address at the back of demand draft.
HH/OH candidates may obtain application form free of cost from
RAC by sending a copy of “Prescribed Disability
Certificate” issued by competent authority. The request
for obtaining the form must reach Director RAC, Lucknow Road,
Timarpur, Delhi-110054 latest by 20th May
2008, accompanied with two self addressed white slips of size 4”
x 3”. The envelope must indicate “REQUEST FOR APPLICATION FORM
ADVT NO. – 89”. |

Candidates
are advised to keep a photocopy of the application form for use in
future. |

Those
applications, which are not completed by the candidates in
accordance with the instructions or those received late due to
any reason, will be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be
entertained in this regard. |

The
applicants should ensure their eligibility themselves in respect of
age, essential qualification etc. and may refer
information brochure carefully as the application forms are
processed electronically and eligibility for the written test cannot
be verified. |
