1. HEMSI & DALMIA GROUP OF INDUSTRIES:

High Energy Materials Society of India (HEMSI) was found in 1983 with the principal aim of propagating knowledge concerning the path-breaking developments in the field of High Energy Materials (HEMs) through regular interaction of the scientists from different organizations in India and abroad. In order to realize these objectives, HEMSI has organized a number of National and International ConferenceslSeminars. It also disseminates the latest information by conducting Workshops and Courses. Scientists IT echnologists/ Academicians from allover the globe attend these events. Today, it is a well known body allover the world with more than 400 active members from India and abroad. In addition to Head Quarter at HEMRL (Pune ), it has full fledged regional chapters at VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram and SHAR-IIT, Chennai.

Dalmia Group of Industries is one of the leading industrial organizations in private sector. One of their group companies, M/s. Bharat Explosives Limited (BEL) is a prominent firm manufacturing state-of-the art explosives for civil sector applications. The company is diversifying at fast pace. The founder of this group of industries, Shri Sanjay Dalmia is a well known philanthropist who has been actively associated with the encouragement of scientific activity.

2. AWARD:

An award, Dalmia -HEMSI award has been instituted by M/s. Bharat Explosives Limited, under the auspices of HEMSI. The aim of the award is to accord recognition for excellence in scientific research in the field of HEMs by the Indian Scientists/ Accademicians working in Government/ Private sectors and Universities/ Autonomous Institutes. This award will be conferred during the International Conferences conducted under the auspices of HEMSI at regular intervals. Two scientists will be awarded on each occasion. A citation and an amount of Rs. 15,000/- each will be presented to the scientists. The awardees will be invited to present their contributions to the field through an invited lecture to the delegates of the conference.

3. NOMINATIONS:

Heads of Research Establishments/ Institutes are requested to nominate Scientists/ Academicians working in the field of HEMs, for the award in the prescribed format. Scientists/ Academicians engaged in basic and applied research in the field of HEMs will be eligible for consideration of this award. Path breaking work on synthesis & characterisation of new HEMs, processing of advanced formulations, mechanistic studies and novel theoretical approaches need to be highlighted for the inclusion. The research work should have element of originality and Novel approach.

4. SELECTION PROCEDURE:

Screening of nomnations and final decision for conferring the award will be taken by a panel of renowned experts from Research and Academic Institutions. Panel will comprise of the following:

  Renowned Indian Scientist : Chairman
  President, HEMSI : Member, Secretary
  Vice President HEMSI (by rotation) : Member
  MD / Vice President, BEL : Member
  Director/Deputy Director -ISRO : Member
