| About the book |
| Camouflage and deception is a military science subject that is mostly of a classified nature; it has no counterpart in the civil sector. Although, in the early days, man learnt many lessons in the art of concealment and deception from nature in his struggle for survival, the rapid advances in technology during the last century have made the subject multidisciplinary and multidimensional. The book covers the subject comprehensively, starting from its historical development and moving to discussion on camouflage in nature and camouflage in the visible region. In the subsequent chapters, the book deals with the rapid advances in sensor technology which encompassed not only the visible region but also the wider region of the electromagnetic spectrum, including infrared and microwaves. In each case, the measures that became necessary to defeat the power and versatility of the sensors are discussed and the importance of developing specially tailored camouflage materials is highlighted. The state-of-the-art in stealth technology is outlined. The contributions of Defence Research & Development Organisation in the area are also outlined. |
