Expanding and deepening the knowledgebase of life sciences
in the country through strengthening and use of national resources including know how and
expertise

Catalysing cross-fertilization of ideas and expertise
between research scientists for providing support to the soldier in operations

Enhancing core competence in the fields of knowledge germane
to develop, manufacture and use biomedical and biotechnological products
-
Create conditions suitable for attracting talent and
expertise from overseas locations through collaborations and other academic exchanges

- Biosciences
- Biotechnology and bioengineering
- Weather and environment studies
- Ecology and Biosafety
- Psychology mind-body studies
- Medical and other sciences
WHO CAN APPLY
Those involved in R&D in Life sciences and allied
fields from R&D institutions, Universities, IITs, biomedical institutions, and other
research centres including industry. Grants are offered to approved research
institutions,Universities or colleges, departments/ laboratories or scientists of eminence
attached to eminent industrial firms with R&D facilities and infrastructure both in
the government and private sector
NATURE OF GRANT
- The grant will be utilised to meet consolidated
emoluments/expenses of research fellows/ staff
- Procuring special equipment consumable stores, chemicals and
obtaining special services not available in the institution
- Conduct conferences/workshops/seminars/symposia
- Cover contigency and travel expenses
- Publish research work
Note : LSRB shall not make any personal payments to
the members of the regular staff of the host institution.
SCHEDULE
The project proposals will be considered twice a year as
per the following schedule
- Receipt of proposals at LSRB secretariat by 01 February to
01 August
- Recommendation of specialists panel by 31 March to 30
September
- Board meeting to be held by 30 April to 31 October
- Issue of sanction letters by 31 May to 30 November.
PATENT RIGHTS AND TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY

Patents arising from the project work will be in the joint
name of LSRB and the Principal Investigator/ the host institution, with LSRB having sole
right to decide commercial exploitation of the technology

The Know how Transfer Committee to be set up by LSRB would
formulate/ consider modalities of transfer of technology
